Department Description:
High volume Brookline P! lace Ob/Gyn practice seeks LPN with experience in a clinical office setting assisting the physician with exams and procedures, performing vitals, and medication reconciliation. Prior experience in Obstetrics and Gynecology preferred but not required if the right candidate is motivated to learn this specialty. Must be dependable, a team player, with the ability to provide the highest level of customer service.

Primary work days and hours are Mon, Tues, Thurs 8-5:30 however, on occassion there may be a change to the weekly schedule and/or hours.

Job Summary: Performs the duties of a Licensed Practical Nurse under the direction of a physician or Nurse Practitoner. Implements the plan of clinical care for patients according to written guidelines

Essential Responsibilities:
Provides support to physicians, surgeons or Nurse Practitioners in an office setting by assisting with clinical care and/or minor procedures. Documents obse! rvations, telephone conversations, prescription related data (! patient requests for RX refill, calls to pharmacy, etc.) and other interactions related to the patients' care.
Assists in patient education activities as directed or in collaboration with medical professionals. Contacts patients via telephone to schedule follow-up appointments as necessary.
Performs administrative patient care functions; schedules appointments, manages offices schedules; books appointments or cases per department protocol. Performs other duties to ensure the timely provision of care to patients.
Participates as an integral member of the health care team and assists in the care of patients. Schedules tests; orders supplies, equipment, films; follows up on test results in collaboration with the physician. Assists with in-office procedures.
Performs telephone activities that include answering incoming calls from doctors, patients, Emergency Department and others. Schedules patients for emergent and/or urgent appointments based on clinical neces! sity as outlined in written protocols.

Required Qualifications:
Vocational or Technical training required in Nursing from a professional accredited Practical Nursing Program.
Certificate 1 required: Basic Life Support
3-5 years related work experience required.
American Heart Association - Basic Life Support Certificate
Three years experience in a clinical setting.
Experience with computer systems required, including web based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access.

Oral Communications: Ability to comprehend and converse in English to communicate effectively with medical center staff, patients, families and external customers.
Knowledge: Ability to demonstrate full wo! rking knowledge of standard concepts, practices, procedures and policie! s with the ability to use them in varied situations.
Team Work: Ability to work collaboratively in small teams to improve the operations of immediate work group by offering ideas, identifying issues, and respecting team members.
Customer Service: Ability to provide a high level of customer service to patients, visitors, staff and external customers in a professional, service-oriented, respectful manner using skills in active listening and problem solving. Ability to remain calm in stressful situations. Age based Competencies:
Employees in this job must be competent to provide patient care to the following age groups: Young adult: 16-30 years, Middle Age: 30 - 60 years, Elderly: 60 -.

Physical Nature of the Job:
Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and or up to 20 pounds of force frequently. Job is physical in nature and employee needs to stand and/or move around through the majority of their shift. - .
