Department Description:
This po! sition supports all Providers in a very busy hight volume multi-specialty practice in Needham, MA

Job Summary: Performs the duties of a Licensed Practical Nurse under the direction of a physician or Nurse Practitoner. Implements the plan of clinical care for patients according to written guidelines

Essential Responsibilities:
Provides support to physicians, surgeons or Nurse Practitioners in an office setting by assisting with clinical care and/or minor procedures. Documents observations, telephone conversations, prescription related data (patient requests for RX refill, calls to pharmacy, etc.) and other interactions related to the patients' care.
Assists in patient education activities as directed or in collaboration with medical professionals. Contacts patients via telephone to schedule follow-up appointments as necessary.
Performs administrative patient care functions; schedules appointments, manages offices schedules; books a! ppointments or cases per department protocol. Performs other d! uties to ensure the timely provision of care to patients.
Participates as an integral member of the health care team and assists in the care of patients. Schedules tests; orders supplies, equipment, films; follows up on test results in collaboration with the physician. Assists with in-office procedures.
Performs telephone activities that include answering incoming calls from doctors, patients, Emergency Department and others. Schedules patients for emergent and/or urgent appointments based on clinical necessity as outlined in written protocols.

Required Qualifications:
Vocational or Technical training required in Nursing from a professional accredited Practical Nursing Program.
Certificate 1 required: Basic Life Support
3-5 years related work experience required.
American Heart Association - Basic Life Support Certificate
Three years experience in a clinical setting.
Experience with computer systems required, including ! web based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access.

Oral Communications: Ability to comprehend and converse in English to communicate effectively with medical center staff, patients, families and external customers.
Knowledge: Ability to demonstrate full working knowledge of standard concepts, practices, procedures and policies with the ability to use them in varied situations.
Team Work: Ability to work collaboratively in small teams to improve the operations of immediate work group by offering ideas, identifying issues, and respecting team members.
Customer Service: Ability to provide a high level of customer service to patients, visitors, staff and external customers in a professional, servi! ce-oriented, respectful manner using skills in active listening and pro! blem solving. Ability to remain calm in stressful situations. Age based Competencies:
Employees in this job must be competent to provide patient care to the following age groups: Young adult: 16-30 years, Middle Age: 30 - 60 years, Elderly: 60 -.

Physical Nature of the Job:
Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and or up to 20 pounds of force frequently. Job is physical in nature and employee needs to stand and/or move around through the majority of their shift.
