(SSMC) is an independently owned, multi-specialty private practice of over 40 physicians engaged in internal medicine, pediatrics, surgery, family medicine and obstetrics/gynecology. Since 1962, SSMC has provided primary medical care as well as a variety of specialty and ancillary services to patients throughout the South Shore.

We are currently seeking an experienced Help Desk Technician to

  • Field incoming requests to the Help Desk via “walk-ins”, telephone and e-mail to ensure courteous, timely and effective resolution of end user issues.
  • Document all pertinent end-user identification information and nature of problem or issue.
  • Per! form hands-on fixes at the desktop level, including installing! and upgrading software, installing hardware, and configuring systems and applications.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, including checking of workstations, printers, and peripherals.
  • Test fixes to ensure problem has been adequately resolved.
  • Escalate problem (when required) to the appropriately experienced technician.
  • Reinforce service level agreements to manage end-user expectations.
  • Evaluate documented resolutions and analyze trends for ways to prevent future problems.
  • Alert management to emerging trends in incidents.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in the computer field and/or certification in Microsoft products (A+, MCP, MCITP in Windows 7) and/or 1-3 years equivalent work experience.
  • Excellent technical knowledge of PC and desktop hardware and software including:
  • MS Windows XP and Windows 7
  • MS Office 2010
  • Thin and Fat-Client workstations
  • Desktop imaging software (e.g., Sym! antec Ghost, etc.)
  • Basic understanding of network infrastructure (LAN/WAN/TCPIP)
  • Ability to conduct research into PC issues and products as required.
  • Excellent problem solving skills, with keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, with ability to present ideas in user-friendly language.
  • Able to read and understand technical manuals, procedural documentation.
  • Self-motivated and directed, with the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong customer-service orientation.
  • Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals.
