PT/FT Front Desk Agent


 

POSITION PURPOSE:

Greets and registers guests, provides prompt and courteous service, and closes out guest accounts upon completion of stay to meet Millennium's high-quality standards. In addition to supporting the Shared Values of the Hotel.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Greet customers immediately with a friendly and sincere welcome. Use a positive and clear voice, listen to understand requests, respond appropriately, and provide accurate information such as outlet hours and local attractions.

Complete the registration process by inputting and retrieving information with normal difficulty from a computer system, confirming pertinent information, including the number of guests and room rate. Promote Millennium marketing programs.

Requires continual standing and movement throughout the front office area.

Close guest accounts at the time of check out and ascertain satisfaction. In dissatisfaction, negotiate compromise, which may include authorizing revenue allowances.

Remain calm and alert, especially during emergency and heavy hotel activity.

Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the hotel's business needs.

Upon employment, all employees must fully support the Hotel's Shared Values for the safe and efficient operation of hotel facilities.

Other duties as assigned by the supervisor include assisting PBX operators or reservation agents.

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY:

Must be able to multitask, be firm while friendly and courteous.

Must posses problem solving skills and at time work independently.

Considerable skill in using a calculator to prepare moderately complex mathematical calculations without error.

Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy to defuse anger, collect accurate information and resolve conflicts.

Ability to stand and move throughout the front office and perform essential job functions continuously.

Ability to read, listen and communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

Ability to access and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system.

Confined work area with considerable traffic, frequent interruptions, and noise from telephones, voices, and office machines.

Periods of standing exceeding 50% of shifts are required.

Ability to lift, reach, bend, stoop, stand and walk continuously, climb stairs, and push or pull heavy equipment.

Ability to lift to 50 pounds, including pushing and pulling daily.

Many repetitive motions of hands and wrists related to computer keyboards are possible.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or any other combination of education, training, or expertise provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. A high school diploma is preferred.

No prior experience is required. Previous hospitality experience preferred.

Applicants with additional language skills are preferred.
