About the Project

Partners Healthcare System (Boston, MA) and the national health system of the State of Qatar have worked collaboratively for several years to promote health care system development and integration, system-wide quality and pe! rformance improvement and other areas of academic and clinical! practice improvement in support of a national commitment to the development of an integrated, academic healthcare system.

The Qatari healthcare system has made many strides in quality improvement in recent years, having achieved continued Joint Commission International accreditation since 2006. Nearly all residents receive inpatient and outpatient healthcare services within the system.

Qataris a safe, peaceful and socially progressive country in the Persian Gulf with approximately 1.7 million inhabitants, the majority of whom are expatriates. Qatar has emerged as a knowledge & business capitol in the Gulf.

The Qatari healthcare system is now focused on leveraging ongoing work in further integration of clinical services to provide higher quality, evidence-based care, improve clinical services and emerge as a leading academic healthcare system in the Gulf and Middle East.

Job Description

The successful candidate will join an alrea! dy existing experienced team consisting of three senior Partner’s obstetrician-gynecologists, an MGH midwife, two on-site Partners nurses, and multiple expert content consultants as an integral member of a team whose major responsibility is to provide oversight, consultation and facilitation of a three year modernization program for the Women’s Hospital Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. The following are some of the qualities that will be considered when applicants are interviewed. We are looking for a seasoned professional, board certified, with a minimum of 5 years of active clinical post residency experience or completion of a maternal-fetal medicine fellowship. This candidate should be a team player, flexible in thought, actions and speech, responsible, possessing the qualities associate with “emotional intelligence.” This candidate should be someone who inspires trust, an excellent communicator, and someone who is amenable to working in a unique and chal! lenging work environment.

This person will play a critical rol! e in helping to transform clinical activities at Women’s Hospital in Doha. The candidate will serve as a liaison between the clinical team and, as appropriate, local leadership at Hamad Medical Corporation and the team of experts from Partners Healthcare. This person should be well versed in women’s health issues and will provide support and continuity to a variety of initiatives, ranging from the development of labor triage areas, managing patient flow, defining a gynecology service plan, designing and coordinating outpatient clinics, etc. Experience working with teams, training and educating physicians, leading quality improvement efforts, and managing change are a definite plus.

Requirements

Required Experience and Skills

MD, preferably with experience in women’s health services

In partnership with the Medical Director and the Women’s Hospital team, participates in the delivery of and provides continuity to the work of the Part! ners HealthCare Women’s Hospital care transformation team

Ensures clinical continuity within the project by both bridging the gap when other clincians are not physically present and thinking/working independently to fulfill the overall mission, thereby ensuring the seamless progress of the project

Communicates frequently with various stakeholders on project progress

Assists client in implementation of new processes and initiatives

Monitors new processes and alerts Medical Director, client and other teams members when problems arise

Evaluates new processes and initiatives and proposes solutions

Ensures that key issues are addressed

In partnership with Medical Director, project director and client, coordinates rotation of team and experts

Ensures efficient and productive use of teams members visit though effective communication and preparation

Ensures frequent and effective communication with t! eam members and client

Meets frequently with project director ! and client to ensure project is meeting client expectations

Attends Project Management Group (PMG) meetings as appropriate

Indentifies gaps and works with team and client to mediate the issues

Indentifies, resolves and escalates issues as needed to Medical Director and/ or Partners Healthcare International

In collaboration with PHI and PHS project team members, develops and maintains relevant documentation to fulfill deliverables

Demonstrated speaking, written and presentation communication skills

Excellent organizational skills as well as ability to manage a variety of substantive activities simultaneously, set work priorities for oneself and others and make independent decisions

Team and/or project management experience

Flexibility and adaptability are critical

Position requires that person live full-time in Doha, Qatar

Desired Experience and Skills

Formal experience in obst! etrics or gynecology

Experience in education or training highly desirable

Formal experience in healthcare project management

Experience working internationally, specifically in the Middle East, is strongly preferred.

Experience working within the Partners HealthCare System

Experience working with diverse groups within a healthcare setting

Foreign language abilities are a plus (Ability to speak Arabic, or interest in learning)

This position is based full time in Doha, Qatar
