Under general supervision, the Ultrasound Tech performs a variety of diagnostic ultrasound procedures to obtain and record interpretable diagnostic information for the medical staff.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide ultrasound guidance for invasive procedures such as amniocentesis, Chorionic Villis Sampling (CVS), Percutaneous Umbilical Blood Sampling (PUBS), Fetal Transfusions, Fetal Shunt placement
Perform first Trimester Nuchal Translucency scans (certification required)
Obtains all clinical information available through charts, films, lab tests, etc. prior to exams. Inform clinics, physicians and floors of interpretation for exams and provides results on request
Teaches residents, students, medical staff and visitors the science, capabilities, and proper use of ultrasound as a diagnostic tool
Maintains sterilizatio! n of equipment using appropriate cleaning procedures involved ! with specialize equipment
REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to accurately perform Level 2 obstetrical ultrasound exams in a timely manner, including multiple gestations
Ability to perform exams in Doppler, M-mode and Real Time modalities
Ability to concentrate for long periods of time under various conditions while acquiring diagnostic information
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in his/her assigned service area
Ability to accurately perform Level 2 obstetrical ultrasound exams in a timely manner, including multiple gestations
Level of knowledge generally obtained through successful completion of a one or two year accredited Ultrasound program
Minimum one year clinical experience in medical ultrasonography
ARDMS registered in OB/GYN or registry eligible
Nuchal Translucency certification preferred
