Internal Medicine/Family Practice Physician
Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
Brockton Neighborhood Health Center is a community health center south of Boston that serves a diverse population of mostly low-income patients. We are located in a beautiful new building in downtown Brockton. In October, 2010 we received a Federal grant of $11.3 million to add an additional 24,000 square feet on to our four year old building. This addition will be completed in the summer of 2012. We will be adding four floors on top of our new urgent care center, which is an extension of our building that opened in July of 2010. The new floors will include adult medicine, obstetrics-gynecology, pediatrics, behavioral health, optometry, and dental services. We are using NextGen’s Electronic Health Record.
Our adult medicine physicians admit to Good Samaritan Medical Center. The hospital has an intensivist program so we do not follow our patients in the ICU or CCU. The hospital also offers Hospitalist coverage nights and weekends. We have our own hospitalists weekdays during the day. Our primary care physicians cover weekends on a rotating basis. We anticipate the rotation will be every sixth or seventh week. Evening hospital coverage is almost entirely just infrequent phone calls from the answering service as the hospital’s hospitalist covers inpatients. The primary care/urgent care physicians are required to admit and round on inpatients on their weekend until 6:30 p.m. each day.

Health insuranceâ€"We have Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, which has been ranked number 1 in the nation in quality and service five years in a row. We pay 75% of a family or single plan for Full Time employees, starting the first of the month after hire.
Dentalâ€" Delta Dental, starts at 6 months. We pay 50% family or single for full time employees.
Malpracticeâ€"fully covered through Federal Tort Claims Act.
Short term and long term disabilityâ€"starts after one year. We pay long term in full and share cost of short term.
Lifeâ€"We pay in full for coverage equal to your annual salary, after one year. You can purchase additional insurance for yourself and family members if you want to.
Earned timeâ€"34 days per year, includes vacation, sick, personal, holiday. This starts accruing after 3 months so first year accrual is less than 34 days. Having paid time off in one pot makes it a lot more flexible.
CMEâ€"One week paid time if you sign a one-year contract. We also pay up to $1000 per year in course fees.
Hospital duesâ€"we pay in full.
Pensionâ€"after 1 year, we match your contribution up to 3% of salary. You can invest more if you wish. You have many investment options. The rep from the pension company will help you sort out all the options.

Our starting salary, effective 7/1/12, will be $165,000. In addition, we offer up to $10,000 per year in incentive bonuses and the opportunity to increase base salary to $180,000 upon completion of incentive goals.
The National Health Services Corps is currently offering a generous loan repayment program of $60,000 for a 2 year commitment up to $170,000 for a 5 year commitment. There is also a state loan repayment program in Massachusetts that will pay up to $25,000 per year in loan repayment up to a total of $75,000, for physicians who practice in a community health center. Loan repayment is not available to physicians on visas.
Good Samaritan Medical Center is supporting our recruitment efforts by paying up to $10,000 in relocation costs, up to $5000 in legal fees for physicians with visa issues, and up to $1000 for interview expenses.
