Responsibilities: GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT: The candid! ate will work under supervision of Lab Manager and Lab Director to support specific research objectives, lab maintenance and administrative tasks in the Laboratory of Genital Tract Biology. The laboratory is accredited by the Commission of Laboratory Accreditation of the College of American Pathologists and conducts basic and translational research in the field of mucosal inflammation and immunity. The applicant will be assigned to studies assessing biomarkers of vaginal inflammation and molecular predictors of reproductive disorders and cancer. These research projects involve multiple tasks including meticulous record keeping, cataloging clinical specimens, processing vaginal specimens and blood, protein extraction/analysis, molecular techniques. The research is performed under routine lab biosafety rules (biohazard level 2 e.g. work with human material). The successful candidate is encouraged to participate in writing and co-authoring research papers and meeting presentat! ions. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Assist with l! aboratory receiving, supply and chemical inventory, preparation for lab inspections.

• Perform microplate assays using state-of-the art technologies.
• Perform research-related computer data entry and analysis.
• Perform cell culture and experimental treatments
• Maintain lab environment and equipment; activities include strict adherence to laboratory procedures
• Perform related duties, as required.

Requirements: QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor or Master degree in the biological sciences and adequate lab experience required. Lab Director will provide project specific training. SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ COMPETENCIES REQUIRED: • Must have basic familiarity with laboratory equipment, procedures, and scientific methodology.

• Must be well organized, able and willing to maintain a neat, orderly work environment and keep meticulous, up-to-date records.
• Must be able to work well with a variety of different persona! lities and communicate relevant information clearly.
• Must be able to work effectively under stringent conditions of accuracy, sterility, and adherence to protocols in a time-pressured environment.
• Must demonstrate careful attention to detail, be willing to ask questions and admit mistakes.
• Must be willing to be flexible in work scheduling to accommodate research.
