Responsible for patient counseling in conjunction with perinatolo! gist at outreach facilities. Communicates consultations through letter and/or telephone with referring physicians and patients. Serves as a resource for genetic issues.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Runs day to day outreach program in coordination with perinatologist and various laboratory and hospital personnel. Integrates patient’s clinical information and laboratory results into interpretive software, reviews data for accuracy and reports abnormal results in a timely fashion.2. Provides genetic counseling to patients/families in all outreach facilities. 3. Educates both patients and providers regarding the meaning of results and appropriate course of action.4. Distributes reports to outside institutions and into electronic files as appropriate.5. Meets with new patients/clients of outreach programs to provide material and instructions as well as introduce various services.6. Provides on going instruction in proper entry of clinical information an! d resolves problems that providers encounter regarding data en! try.7. Acts as liaison to outreach sites, reviews finalized amino and CVS charts and distributes results for reporting MD’s.as per arrangements each institution this would include explaining testing to providers and answering their questions for all non counseled patients.8. Provides a variety of other functions on site including but not limited to obtaining clinical information, explaining chromosome analysis and other tests to clinicians unfamiliar with genetics and assisting providers in arranging specialized testing not performed on site.9. Develops and maintains effective relationships with internal providers, peers, staff and patients. 10. Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications: Board Certified in genetic counseling
Five â€"8 or more years of experience in perinatal genetic counseling
Working Conditions: Various locations throughout New England
Shift: Day Shift
